| More on California City Studios, Continued from City Voices Page Press Release February 8, 2009 Russell stated there is an up side, Kern County has reported over 22 million dollars in economic impact improvements this year, up from 5 million back in 2001 and beating out Palm-dale and Lancaster for the first time, and overcoming all the afore mentioned pitfalls. Our studio has healed well from this as well, we have even bounced back from 2 major battles with city officials, one over the present Mayors illegal shutting off of our water back in 2004 and the latest battle over a show we were preparing for, with CBS in 2007. Russell Stated we now face a whole new battle, he states he has now found out that water lines and roads promised him in 2001 and put in place on a temporary basis by the city, were run to his Movie Studio Illegally in an attempt to have him locate here in California City, instead of site's he had planned in Lancaster and Rosamond back in 2001, these lines were brought to him Illegally he states, across private property that is not owned by, or was there ever permission from the owners, to the city, allowing these temporary lines and road to the studio across their properties. It doesn't stop there he states, the Temporary road was also laid across private land, with out environmental studies, or permission from any of the owners, one in fact is BLM, another owner is the US Air Force Russell states. What will happen with California City Studios? Russell stated that this matter must be taken up with all the proper authorities involved, including State environmental agencies, as well as The Mojave Water District, AVAC, BLM, The air Force that owns some of the land, our Attorneys, City and state officials. The problem with this is that it stops all growth at the studio and any one of these owners can close the road to the studio, cut off our water supply and leave us literally stranded. This type of seemingly "Good Old Boy" behavior is what has daunted this city since it's start some 40 years ago. I hope this will be the last of what I believe to be the "Good Old Boys", said Russell. What's next for California City Studios? Our plans for a Film School are still on track said Russell, We are meeting with our investors on Monday. We still plan on the Amusement Park, we may not be able to place either of them in locations we planned here in California City, but we have alternate locations in Rosamond and Mojave, I have been meeting with land owners all weekend said Russell. We are in negotiations with a major park developer who has plans for a themed motel as well at the Park. We are also covering the motel convention in Vegas with ASNBC.COM, as well as presenting our plans to several motel designers and developers there. We are not discouraged by all of this, said Russell just a little heart broken by the treatment, its just sad said Russell.
