“Thanksgiving Desert Re-Cap”
The California City Police and Fire Departments, greeted about 25,000 visitors a day to the desert community’s OHV riding and camping areas, over the Thanksgiving holiday.
There were 29 reported traffic accidents, with 5 of the patients being airlifted. Another 5 patients were transported by Halls Ambulance, while the remaining injured riders, sought private transportation.
There was only one arrest and it was alcohol related. 23 calls were received for missing or over-due riders, and there were 4 illegal shooting calls. The Police Department generated approximately $55,000 in OHV permit sales, over the holiday.
